Toyota HiLux SR5 d/cab tdi 4x4 utility

Toyota’s long-serving HiLux, now in its seventh generation, faces some stiff competition in 2011 with new one-tonne utes from Volkswagen, Ford and Mazda due to arrive.
Model release date: November 2010
THE current-generation HiLux has been with us for close to six years and Toyota hints that there’s still at least two more years in it yet.
It received an upgrade in the third quarter of 2009 with higher spec levels and minor styling changes that distinguished it with a new grille. Part of its popularity and success is due to its extensive variant range.

The HiLux is available in single, extra and double-cab bodies, 4x2 and 4x4 drivelines, a choice of three engines – 2.7-litre petrol four-cylinder, 4.0-litre petrol V6 and 3.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder, manual and automatic transmissions and in three specification levels.

In all, the model range runs out to some 32 variants to deliver a ute for all applications, be it a tradie’s workhorse or everyday family transport. It’s the top-end SR5 double-cab diesel that gets the latest upgrades to make it more appealing to recreational buyers.
